About the Driver
My name is Tim Nicholas and I am 33 Always had a fascination with cars from a small child, and would quite often be found taking things apart for no reason, racing my pedal go kart, or generally frightening my parents by falling out of trees or making huge ramps to jump people on my BMX. Passed my driving test as quickly as possible after my 17th birthday, and have loved driving ever since, having had thirty something cars and spend all available cash on cars. Cars are more than a hobby, more like an addiction.
How it Began
I purchased the car in a 100% Completely factory standard form in July 2004, almost on a whim, knowing absolutely nothing about Skylines. Until this date I had never owned a car for more than a few months at a time. Immediately fell in love with the car, began to see others on the road, and bumped into a guy in a petrol station who introduced me to a world of Skylines I never knew existed. Over the years, I have gone from knowing nothing about Skylines, to having had a unit breaking Skylines to raise funds, for my ultimate dream which I am now starting to live, which is to race, something I have always wanted to do...
2004
Purchased the car in July 2004 The car remained standard
2005
Having been introduced to Skyline forums, my knowledge began to grow. Started going to more and more events around the country, meeting more and more Skyline enthusiasts Took the Skyline to Nurburg Ring for the first time, and my first track day in my own car
2006
I went to Snetterton with the Skyline Owners Club Forum Crashed the Skyline at the Nurburg Ring, which was completely my fault, and left me with an 893 bill for armco, plus what turned out to be £4k to repair the car including a respray This is where my real learning about Skylines began.
2007
The car was finished and fully repaired along with a full respray and a Nismo bodykit in the April. Started doing more track days with www.skyline-owners-club.com and making some great friends Rented a unit which allowed me to break Skylines, keeping the best parts for my car.
2008
Started thinking about a 5 year plan and how to fund racing, looking into what specs and regulations. Passed ARDS test to get Race licence National 'B' Time Attack seems like a great series to enter I managed 2 trips to the Nurburg Ring in Germany, plus several in the Uk such as Anglesey, Woodbridge.
2009
I was working in Germany for the latter part of 2008, until the end of 2009 which made ttthings more diffficult to get work done on the car. Car went to Andy Robinson Race Cars for a full welded in 7 point FIA and MSA approvved Roll cage. I also fitted harnesses along with race seats. I took the car out with me to Germany, and was lucky enough to visit the Nurburg Ring 3 times, a couple of evenings at the Nurburg GP, and at Hockenheim First Time attack round October 2009 at Snatterton.
2010
What a learning curve of a year. Knowledge of motorsport has increased dramatically. Planning, competing, preparing takes up a huge amount of time. Our eyes into 2011 have been opened !!!!
2011
Full steam ahead for the 2011 Race season, all 7 rounds of Time Attack.
